The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) has established a new priority group for Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS): The Essential Services Workforce, to help “front line” workers pay for child care during the current crisis. The priority group consists of two tiers. The tier one group includes law enforcement personnel, public safety staff, first responders, medical personnel who provide or support direct care to patients, pharmacy and child care personnel. The second tier includes workers who work in the food supply chain such as grocery stores, farming, and food delivery and pick-up. Families working in these areas can apply for scholarships that will cover a three month period which will be extended as long as the state of emergency is in in place.
Please note that families must meet the CAPS income eligibility requirements in order to be eligible. Families can find eligibility requirements and other details as well as the application at wwww.qualityrated.org. For more information, go to the Essential Services Workforce priority group document on the CAPS website update page at https://caps.decal.ga.gov/en/Updates.
